“How easily his helplessness can cause him mental anguish, and how much our understanding of his language can help us to save him from this, and calm his mind!” – Maria Montessori
Dr Maria Montessori’s insight into recognizing and responding to the education of the young child’s senses continues to inspire me as a teacher. My personal interpretation of “understanding of his language” is the ability to connect with him through a trusting relationship and fulfilling his deep need for bonding with adults and their environment. Building a meaningful relationship is always the first and foremost task as a teacher so that children can experience joy and love that fuel their interest in exploring and learning thus fulfilling their sense of self and preparing them to be successful learners.
I am devoted to children in having a wonderful relationship and am stimulated by their generosity in giving their love which in turn bring about my sense of self-worth. I am moved by parental love and their aspiration for their children. It is my privilege to work hand in hand with them to support their children in times of challenges.”
