Charisse Evangelista
Speech Language Pathologist
Charisse graduated from The University of Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology. She was one of few therapists who received Dean’s List commendation and was also recognized as a College Scholar by the University. In the internship year, Charisse was given the opportunity to be attached to the Philippine General Hospital, the country’s largest hospital where she gained rich experience with various cases associated with speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders. While in the Philippines, she worked with several pediatric intervention establishments. In 2005, she co-founded a private therapy practice in her hometown district to cater to the growing needs of clients in the province. In 2006, she pursued a Non-Degree Program under the Masters in Rehabilitation Sciences at the same university with focus on Dysphagia and Aphasia. To challenge herself further personally and professionally, Charisse decided to come to Singapore in 2007 where she has been with Leapfrogs since. She has been trained in Sara Rosenfeld’s Talk Tools – Feeding Therapy: A sensory-motor approach, Hanen, Picture Exchange Communication System, Floor Time (introduction), and various other courses in Autism, Apraxia, professional ethics, Verbalization for the Hearing Impaired in both Singapore and Phillippines. She has a special interest language delay and disorders, autism, social and language groups, and children with low functioning abilities.
